Security Risk Assessment for Flexible Working Options
Introduction
Covid-19 emerged as a global pandemic and in no time has impacted the working of the entire globe. Many organizations and businesses were not prepared to allow the flexibility demands that came as a necessity during this emergency.
Working anywhere outside secure perimeter of organizations is a demanding task, considering that the IT practices which have cascaded down in the past decade and diligently followed are still breached by ever evolving security threats.
Further when access is extended beyond the secure perimeter then the following risks are compounded like:
- Devices baselines are not enough as data loss prevention becomes a necessary add-on
- Access to Central Controls like Active Directory , SCCM etc becomes a threat.
- Local tools like Antivirus that work well within a LAN eco-system need to be changed as again we need to remove the access to the central network directly
