Road and Transport Authority Embarks mGovernment as Part of their Digital Journey to Improve Employee and Citizen Engagement
The client is responsible for providing the requirements of transport, roads & Traffic in one of the Emirates in UAE. Their responsibilities include managing Buses, Taxis, Road Engineering, Licensing, Permits, issue NOCs, Intercity Transport, Public Buses, Sign Boards, Road beautification, etc.
Taking a leap towards mGovernment, the client wanted to develop an easy to use mobile application for its internal and external users. The external users (Public) will create account to request for RTA services whereas, the internal users (employees) will use it to discharge their day to day duties such as inspections, permit and reporting.
The proposed solution included the Android mobile application, iOS mobile application and the web services that will be integrated with the organization’s back end system. The app was required to empower the user to gather the maximum amount of information with the least amount of effort.

Business Scenario
The client lacked automation of workflow and had manual processes including quality control, violation & web based taxi booking services. The other challenges include lack of digital channel to optimize the cost and operational efficiency. The interaction with customers requesting for transportation services was limited and there was a need for multiple touch points for the customers to convey their needs effectively.
All these challenges resulted in arising need for an efficient & simple to use mobile app.
Solution
Intertec planned to implement an advanced mobile application that will enable automation of workflow and various manual processes including those of quality control, violation & Taxi booking services. It will also empower citizens to use online services which was otherwise only possible through web application.
The application will allow external users to request for RTA services and internal users to take action or process the external users’ requests. There are other capabilities including external user registration, login history and notification.
The application communicates with a database server through the web-services. This system will consist three components:
